Challenge:
The AHCA publishes a selection of print brochures on various topics in senior healthcare. The brochures were available in HTML format on their Web site, but were not organized to facilitate easy access. Individual brochures were often presented as long, scrolling pages of text with little differentiation.

Without the resources to re-write the brochure content in a Web-friendly format, the challenge was to organize the brochures so that users could find desired and relevant content more easily, while maintaining the textual integrity of each individual brochure. A secondary objective was to make the site easier for the in-house Webmaster to add new brochures as they became available.

Solution:
First, brochures are grouped into 6 issue-related categories that more accurately reflect their content. Category titles are clearly differentiated to address different user interests ("Planning Ahead," "Financial Information," "Career Options," etc.), but are left broad enough to enable brochures to be added later.

Second, the presentation of the brochures now allows for multiple types of user access. Lengthy brochures are broken up into manageable one-page sections which are individually accessible from descriptive links on the brochure index page. These sections are linked to one another so that the brochure can be read in sequential order if desired. Users may also download a PDF version of the entire brochure to print or read offline. At the discretion of the Webmaster, shorter brochures that can easily be displayed on one page are not required to have index pages or PDF versions. A site Glossary has also been added as a reference for medical and technical terminology.
